SUMMARY:Melbourne Zen Centre Zazenkai
DESCRIPTION:Awakening to the Sound of the Stream Becoming the Whole Sky \n» Download Flyer \nThis workshop weaves Zen practice\, contemplative inquiry\, experiential exercises – and aims to restore wholeness of heart and clarity of mind\, so we can respond wisely and compassionately to the challenges that we face. \nMountains and waters are natural companions for the Zen Way. The sound of the stream and the shape of the mountain awakens us to the one who hears and the insight of interconnected oneness with all of life. \nDogen says: \nI came to realize clearly that the mind is no other than mountains\, rivers\, the great wide earth\, sun\, moon and stars. \nWith this realisation we dispel the illusion of separation between each other and the natural world. Our joyful\, energised commitment to our Bodhisattva vows invigorates us\, as we work towards a more life sustaining world. Realising the way together with the great earth and all sentient beings is the ground for genuine aspiration and wise action. \nTeachers: Subhana Barzaghi & Aladdin Jones \n» Download Flyer

SUMMARY:Embodying Peacemaking: Week-end Zazenkai workshop
DESCRIPTION:with Melbourne Zen Group\nBearing witness has to be done by first entering the state of not knowing. That is\, you are not entering a situation with the feeling that you know what to do\, but entering it like a child\, just being there to listen and to feel with every bone\, with every cell\, with every hair of your body. By feeling what’s happening\, letting the ingredients of the situation arise\, you can take those ingredients to create a healing meal.\nBernie Glassman\, The Three Tenets of Zen Peacemakers\nLions Roar\, 2017 \nIn embodying peacemaking\, we will explore how the essence of the Three Tenets practice of not knowing\, bearing witness and compassionate action\, nurture our inner-outer deep listening and inform peacemaking actions in everyday home\, work\, and social engagement with life. In what ways can it manifest our awakening\, commitment and social action? How might these practices inform our current context of Voice Referendum and urgent climate action? \nThese are some questions we will explore in a creative experiential Zazenkai-workshop. We will meet at the energetic and sacred place of the Wurundjeri Lands\, near Merri Creek and the sustainable activist works of the CERES community. The Zazenkai form will entail zazen\, walking meditation\, contemplation\, dyad-triad and interactive group exercises\, to foster the embodiment of peacemaking. \nBOOK HERE

SUMMARY:Eco Dharma Training Course (Online): Module Three
DESCRIPTION:MODULE 3: HONOURING OUR PAIN FOR THE WORLD\nSally Gillespie did her Ph.D. research on the psychological effects of climate change and her latest acclaimed book is called Climate Crisis & Consciousness. Sally will speak about the range of psychological and emotional responses to climate change and ecological collapse and how we can develop more resilience. Developing awareness of ecological threats and destructions can stir both eco-anxiety and grief. The more we talk about all of this\, the more resilient we can be in our engagement and find ways to re-imagining ourselves in our world. \nSubhana Barzaghi will then provide a safe harbour to explore ways to manage; eco-anxiety\, despair\, anger\, fear and grief through dharma teachings\, rituals\, mindfulness and creative ways to express\nour grief for the world. \n\nABOUT THIS ONLINE COURSE:\nZen Teachers Subhana Barzaghi & Mari Rhydwen will be joined by experts in the fields of ecology\, mindfulness\, psychology\, economics\, Buddhist ethics and activism to explore how we can participate in charting a positive way forward to address the current climate crisis. \nThe course is open to everyone and you can join in from wherever you are via Zoom.\nThe aims of the Eco-dharma training are: \n\nto honour our intent to protect the earth and all beings\nto create the space for reflecting on the difficult feelings in response to the destruction of our natural world\nto encourage open dialogue\, reflective inquiry and embodied practices to support deep learning and collective action\nto increase our active engagement with the world by cultivating clarity\, courage integrity and compassion\nto deepen our relationship with nature and promote life sustaining systems and culture\nto be guided by the Buddha Dharma in responding to this ecological emergency\nto support an eco-dharma community\n\nDates for 2021\nZoom Sessions\nWeek 1: 18 March 2021: What is Eco Dharma?\nWeek 2: 25 March 2021: A Scientific Update\nWeek 3: 1 April: Honouring Our Pain for the World\nWeek 4: 15 April: Seeing with New Eyes and Deep Listening\nWeek 5: 22 April: Seeing with New Eyes and Deep Listening\nWeek 6: 29 April: Addressing Big Picture Issues\nWeek 7: 6 May: Low Carbon Living and Deep Adaptation to Climate Change\nWeek 8: 13 May: Going Forth with Mindful Communication and Wise Action \nDownload Training Flyer
