Creativity Retreat, Sangsurya 2019

The Meditation & Creativity retreat, “The Earth is our Great Body” at the stunning venue of Sangsurya, Byron Bay was a truly beautiful, joyfully creative experience. Lizzie introduced us through somatic exercises and introduced land art & the red thread, that went viral. I ordained trees and a red pom-pom landed on top of the Buddha. Statues were married, tied with the red thread ritual which was symbolic of the interconnected thread of life that wove it’s way through the lush tropical garden, up trees and down the path. Stunning mosaics were created over the 6 days to adorn the paths. I lead a writer’s workshop each morning which took us on a journey along the spiral that reconnects which was inspired by Joanna Macy’s book Active Hope. This theme provided the structure for the creativity & dharma talks. The spiral started with – Coming from gratitude, honouring our pain & our pain for the world, seeing with new eyes, celebrating the earth as our great body, cultivating compassion, wandering into deep time and meeting our ancestors and going forth with wise and active hope. We were deeply nourished by a Mudita’s delicious vegetarian cuisine.
